This Saturday and Sunday, the 9th and 10th of September, Kinnegad GAA club will welcome the cream of the crop of rounders, as the club will host the All-Ireland rounders finals for the first time.
Clubs from all around Ireland will descend on Westmeath this weekend in a bid to secure All-Ireland rounders glory.
On the Saturday, the intermediate finals kick off the weekend’s action, with a start time of 1:30pm as clubs from Roscommon and Dublin battle it out for the ladies’ crown.
Also, that day the men’s final at 3:30pm sees an all-Connacht affair, where The Galway City Rapparees take on Michael Glaveys of Roscommon, which is sure to be a brilliant game.
To finish off Saturday’s action at 5pm, is the Intermediate mixed final, which will bring teams from Ulster against each other; Carrickmacross of Monaghan and St Clare’s of Cavan.
Attentions then turn to Sunday where the best of the best of the sport line up to battle it out for Senior glory.
The action starts at the earlier time of 12pm where the senior ladies get their chance to show spectators what they are all about.
After the ladies’ game, the turn of the senior mixed final takes place which offers a unique element which isn’t often seen in any sport.
Limekiln of Dublin take on The Heath of Laois, who showcase how unique the mixed competition is by fielding a mother, a father and a son of the same family on the starting lineup which you cannot see in many other sports.
The last final of the day is the turn of the Senior men which pits Erne Eagles of Cavan against Carrickmacross Emmets, with the Cavan side looking to win their third men’s title in a row.
It’s sure to be a great weekend of unmissable rounders for rounders fans alike, so if you are around Kinnegad why not drop in and see what this great game is all about.
