GOAL Hoping For More Westmeath Mile Events This Christmas

Goal Mile

The GOAL Mile has been running for over 40 years and is one of GOAL’s biggest fundraisers to support families devasted by climate crises and conflict.

This year they are trying to increase the number of GOAL Mile organisers and participants, especially in Co. Westmeath.

The GOAL Mile, proudly supported by AIB, is held throughout December in villages, towns and cities across Ireland and virtually throughout the world.

The event sees tens of thousands of people run or walk a mile to raise funds for GOAL.
One of Ireland’s most popular annual events, the GOAL Mile is a Christmas tradition for thousands of families.

Events are run by a network of individual and community organisers nationwide.

While most events take place on Christmas Day, a Mile can be organised any time in December.

They are the perfect way to work up an appetite on December 25 or maybe work off some festive excess!

Three events are already scheduled for Co. Westmeath during the festive season, but GOAL are asking more communities to consider hosting an event during December.

The current Westmeath events will take place in the following areas:

Mullingar Shamrocks GAA Grounds, Springfield, Bellview, N91 PX22, Christmas Day, 11:30am-12:30pm

Multyfarnham, Local Park, Christmas Day, 12pm-1:30pm

Castledaly GAA Grounds, Castledaly, Moate, N37 VY64, St. Stephen’s Day, 12pm-2pm

Pre-event registration is encouraged, but everyone is welcome to attend their local GOAL Mile on the day.

So, bring your family, friends and neighbours!

Calling all GAA clubs: did you know that organising a GOAL Mile could help your club win additional funding?

AIB is encouraging GAA communities from all corners of Ireland to come together and host their very own GOAL Mile to be in with a chance of winning one of 10 prizes of €1,000 for their club. Head to www.goalmile.org/organiseamile to sign up today!
