Westmeath Sports Partnership, through the support of the Dormant Accounts fund, is pleased to confirm that over twenty sports clubs and organisations from across Co. Westmeath have been successful in receiving Volunteer Support Programme funding.
The VSP aims to increase the number of people playing a leadership role in developing sports and physical activity in their communities and local sports clubs.
Clubs can apply for up to a maximum of 1,000 euro to upskill volunteers or club leaders or to provide club members with additional educational opportunities through the Volunteer Support Grants Programme.
The money was provided to Westmeath Sports Partnership via Sport Ireland following a successful application to the 2022 Dormant Accounts Funding scheme.
The competitive application process was open to all sports club in Co. Westmeath and is designed to support clubs in upskilling new and existing coaches and volunteers to increase participation in sport and physical activity in their community.
The grants reflect the ongoing commitment of Westmeath Sports Partnership to promote and sustain the work of dedicated volunteers at club level in Co. Westmeath. These grants will help sustain the lifeblood of these clubs by providing new training opportunities and assist community groups in creating a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.
Westmeath Sports Partnership, in association with Sport Ireland and the Dormant Accounts Fund, wishes to thank all the clubs and organisations who applied to the Volunteer Support Programme this year. We also wish to express our gratitude to all the volunteers, members, and leaders within each sports club for their dedication to the promotion of sport and recreation and physical activity for all ages and abilities in our community.
